The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I didn't think I would like this book based on how it was described to me so I didn't even give it a chance for awhile. I decided to give it a chance after everybody at work started swapping the books around and especially after one of my co-workers stated that she "doesn't read...period". I borrowed the series from a friend and finished the book in 3 days (probably would have been 2 if I didn't have to work or need sleep lol). I felt like I was Katniss. It's been awhile since a book has made me feel like this. The emotions she felt I felt. You instantly fall in love with all of the main characters.
I cannot wait to see the movie (the previews didn't really catch my interests either) so that I can see the imagery of the pre-Games celebrations come to life. From Effie's pink hair to Peeta and Katniss' costumes to the moment when Peeta reveals his secret!!! or at least I hope they show all of that!! I also can't wait to see the Games. I'm not one for blood and gore and I know there will be a lot of it but I am more interested in seeing Rue and her quickness and how the contenders look. I also want to see these mutations and if they are like I pictured in my head.

If you had doubts I highly recommend you read The Hunger Games. At least give it 3 chapters like I do any book. If after 3 chapters you cannot get into the book it isn't for you. Happy Reading :)

The Lost Summer By Kathryn Williams

The Lost SummerThe Lost Summer by Kathryn Williams

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If you loved Summer Sisters by Judy Blume, you will love this book! The story of Helena an her summer camp experience had me hooked. You feel the emotions she feels from the joy of returning to camp to her first heart break. You feel sorry for her in a way, especially after her accident. If you have ever been to summer camp you can relate to this book. I highly recommend.
